Between a morning train and a room available late in the afternoon, the practical question of the day is always the same: where to leave the bags. In Lille the answer costs between three and ten euros, and it depends first on the station where you get off.

Where can you leave your luggage in Lille?
The first point fits in one sentence: the documented station left luggage is at Lille-Europe, and one private operator states explicitly that there is none at Lille-Flandres.
The two stations are neighbours and a few minutes' walk apart, but the detail saves a pointless round trip with a suitcase. We found no recent official confirmation for Lille-Flandres, either way.

The gap between the official left luggage and the shop networks is real, but it is paid for in uncertainty. Private prices are almost all shown as "from", and the bill rises with the length of stay, the size of the bag and the drop-off point.
The simple sum: for half a day, the station left luggage at €4 is hard to beat and needs no booking. For 24 hours and several bags, the partner networks become clearly cheaper.
What time does left luggage close?
The station left luggage is open from 7:30am to 8pm. The private left luggage in the city centre advertises from 8am to 10pm, seven days a week all year round.
No left luggage open round the clock is documented in Lille. For a night train or a very early arrival, none of the sources we consulted offers a solution, and it is a limit worth planning around.
The alternative that solves the problem: many Lille hotels keep luggage before check-in and after check-out, free of charge. For two suitcases and one day, that is often better than left luggage, and it is a sorting criterion in its own right.

We do not publish a list, because no reliable one exists. No usable official source lists Lille's public toilets with their locations, opening hours, whether they are free or whether they are accessible.
The finding is the same for drinking water fountains: there is no inventory to consult with locations and working status. The same goes for public Wi-Fi, phone charging points, late-night pharmacies and lost property.

This gap is not trivial on Braderie weekend. Reports on the event point out how hard it is to find toilets in the middle of the crowd, and that no list of toilets accessible to people with reduced mobility exists for those two days.
Until public data exists, the landmarks that work are places open to all: the two stations, the shopping centres, museums during opening hours and cafés where you buy something. It is not an inventory, it is a method.
What should you prepare before you arrive?
Not much, in fact. The station left luggage needs no booking, the private networks do, and that is the main practical difference between the two kinds of service.
The means of payment accepted at the station left luggage are not detailed on the pages we consulted, which is awkward for a visitor from abroad, including from the UK. Keep a second payment card to hand, just in case.
