The Marquette-lez-Lille braderie: the first Sunday in August, in the Abbaye district
In Marquette-lez-Lille, the Abbaye district braderie (a street flea market) fills a single morning on the first Sunday in August, and has done for more than forty years. The dates of the last two editions, pitch prices, and the other braderie in the town that people mix it up with.
The Marquette-lez-Lille braderie is a neighbourhood flea market lasting one morning, in the Abbaye area just north of Lille. It has nothing to do with the Grande Braderie in September: here, you browse between 7am and 2pm, on a summer Sunday, among neighbours.

When is the Marquette-lez-Lille braderie held?
The 2025 edition was held on Sunday 3 August 2025, from 7am to 2pm, billed as the 47th. The next one took place on Sunday 2 August 2026, from 7am to 2pm, in the same district and in the same format.
Both dates fall on the first Sunday in August. If the pattern holds, the 2027 edition would fall on Sunday 1 August 2027. That is a deduction from two editions, not an announcement: as of 28 September 2026, nothing has been published for 2027.
The dates for 2022 to 2024 were not found in any source. And the 2026 listing was updated after the event: it proves that the edition took place, not that it had been announced early.
Where is it held, and how does the morning work?
In the Abbaye district, around the junction of rue du Général-Leclerc and rue de Lille. Sellers set up from 6am, and vehicle access closes at 7am, when visitors are let in.
The 2025 listing announced around 500 private sellers, a refreshment stand and food on site. Entry is free for visitors. The figure of 500 is an organiser's announcement: we do not know whether it counts people, pitches or an estimate.
Bargain hunting from 7am: to browse at opening time without setting off in the dark, a room in Lille the night before puts Marquette a few minutes away. If the first-Sunday-in-August pattern holds, that night will be Saturday 31 July 2027: a chance to spend the day in Vieux-Lille.

Booking is compulsory, online. These prices come from a specialist listings site, not from a council document: the registration deadline, the payment method and the refund rules are not published.
For comparison, a Lille neighbourhood braderie charged €4 per metre in 2026, or €16 for 4 metres. Marquette remains half the price.
Is there another braderie in Marquette-lez-Lille?
Yes, and it is the source of most of the confusion. The L'Atelier community centre runs its own braderie, announced for Saturday 23 May 2026, from 10am to 4pm, in rue Guynemer, rue Saint-Exupéry and rue Jean-Mermoz, with 80 sellers.
It is not the August braderie: different season, different day, different hours, different scale. The two figures, 80 and 500, do not add up and do not describe the same event.

What time should you go?
At opening time for the choice, mid-morning for comfort. No count is published: this advice follows from the opening hours, not from a measurement. Arriving at 1:30pm leaves less than half an hour before the end, with stalls already packing up.
